Health and Wellbeing

NYAS's overall aim is to maximise the ultimate health and wellbeing of the young people who come to us. After responding to their housing requirements when possible, an assessment of a client's other needs is made that can cover a range of issues: physical and mental health, education, social connections and relationships, financial support, employment, etc. In order to deliver needed support in any of these areas, NYAS has agreements and partnerships with other organisations that provide specialist support (in the form of information, instruction, classes, workshops, etc) in such areas as:

  • Health assessment and referral ,through a nurse provided by Western Area Adolescent Team of NSW Health
  • Employment and education support services, in partnership with Breakthru Employment and Tafe NSW
  • Counselling, in partnership with NSW Health and Nepean Hospital

  • This support is provided both to residents of NYAS properties and through “outreach” to clients who are accommodated outside of the service, either at their own homes or when resident with other institutions.
