NYAS Young Parents Program (YPP)

NYAS, in partnership with Wesley Mission, provides a Young Parenting Program (YPP), which is a holistic and integrated “child focused” service to vulnerable young mums & families up to the age of 25 years.
The YPP includes semi-independent and transitional accommodation, with aims to:

  • Promote healthy development in children.

  • Promote strong, functional and well-supported families by the development of parenting skills and through access to local services.

  • Reduce and prevent child abuse and neglect in participating families.

  • Provide a practical day-to-day program for new mums.

  • Through both group based and in-home learning, this service delivers aconsistent and measured set of skills in both parenting and the health and development of children.

    As part of the YPP, semi-supported accommodation and pregnancy support for females aged 16 to 19 years who are then able to move into self-supported unit style accommodation for up to 12 months. Each client is individually case managed and encouraged to work towards self-reliance and independent living.

    The YPP is funded by Brighter Futures & SHS.
